How to Install Cabinet Pulls in 5 Steps
Before installation, confirm the selected SKU, CTC, overall dimensions, projection, screw thread, screw length, panel thickness, and included hardware. If you are unsure about drilling or the cabinet material, use an experienced installer.
1. Confirm CTC and Placement
For replacement pulls, measure the existing hole centers and match the selected pull's millimeter CTC. For new installation, use a cabinet hardware template and mark every hole before drilling.
2. Check Tools and Screws
Use the correct drill bit for the cabinet material and screw clearance. Confirm that the screw thread matches the pull. Many furniture pulls use #8-32 and many appliance pulls use #10-24, but the selected SKU controls. Never force a different thread.
3. Drill Carefully
Remove doors or drawers when practical, support the back of the workpiece, wear eye protection, and drill square to the surface. Use painter's tape or a backing block where appropriate to reduce surface damage. Check for glass, metal, wiring, plumbing, or hidden components before drilling.
4. Attach and Tighten Evenly
Insert the screws from the back and tighten gradually. Do not overtighten. If the screw bottoms out before the pull is secure, stop and use the correct compatible length; do not add unsafe spacers or force the screw.
5. Check Alignment
Check that the pull is secure, level, and consistent with nearby hardware. Open and close the door or drawer to confirm clearance. Recheck after initial use.
